Pickett, with three of his brigades, joined Longstreet for the following morning, and our batteries were moved forward to the positions gained by him the day before. Robert E. Lee was in command of the of the Virginia Confederate army and won many battles in attempted to beak free of the Union. He was Son of Henry Lee who was a officer of the rev. war. Even though he was a general for the Confederates, he believed the Union should stay intact. He was even offered by Lincoln to be general of the union, but he stayed true do his home state and become General of the confederate Army. Lee was a brilliant strategist and was the reason for the numerous Confederate victories. Was in charge at Gettysburg. |
George Meade (Union)

General Meade was born in Spain, but was still asked to be commander of the Union army right before the battle of Gettysburg. He, like Meade, was a very brilliant strategist, and was the reason for many other Union victories, although he was criticized for not following Lee during his retreat. To this day, he is mostly remembered for his victory over Lee at the Battle of Gettysburg. |
